- Plan about 6 days door to door if you fly in, about 8-9 days by train.

A Kedarnath tour package from Hyderabad is normally a 5-6 day loop starting in Delhi, Haridwar or Dehradun, plus travel there: IndiGo lists nonstop Hyderabad-Dehradun flights (about 2.5 hours) on some dates, or train via Delhi. TravelTriangle's quote starts at Rs 18,900 per person, excluding airfare and helicopter. Closing is expected on Bhai Dooj, 11 November 2026 (not yet announced).
Most pages ranking for a Kedarnath package from Hyderabad sell a hill itinerary that begins in the north, leaving the Telangana-Uttarakhand leg, the helicopter and the late-season calendar to you. This guide covers the flight and train facts for Hyderabad, two door-to-door day plans, what the quoted packages actually cover, the helicopter fares shown on IRCTC HeliYatra on 2 October 2026, and whether a 2026 trip is still realistic. If you have already decided to fly the final stretch, our Kedarnath helicopter booking guide covers the IRCTC steps one by one. kedarnathhelicopteryatra.com is an independent planning site; it does not sell packages or tickets.
How to get from Hyderabad to Kedarnath: flight or train
Kedarnath Temple stands at about 3,583 m (11,755 ft), roughly 223 km from Rishikesh, and no road reaches it. Every trip from Hyderabad therefore has three parts: reach a gateway in Uttarakhand, drive into the hills to Sonprayag (the last motorable point), and finish on foot from Gaurikund or by helicopter. The Hyderabad-specific choice is the first part.
Fly Hyderabad to Dehradun (Jolly Grant)
Flights leave from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. IndiGo's Hyderabad-Dehradun route page, checked on 2 October 2026, showed nonstop-length flights of about 2 h 25 min to 2 h 30 min on some dates (1 and 4 October) and one-stop connections of 7 h 50 min to 10 h 20 min on others (30 September, 2 and 3 October). Its marketing text calls the route daily nonstop, but its own dated list does not, so check your exact date before paying for hotels. Airfares are not listed because they change daily.
Jolly Grant Airport is about 25 km from Dehradun, 20 km from Rishikesh and 35 km from Haridwar, and roughly 240 km by road from Sonprayag. TravelTriangle gives the same advice on its Hyderabad page, describing Dehradun airport as "nearly 238 km from Kedarnath". Flying to Dehradun is the quickest route when the nonstop runs on your date.
Fly or take the train to Delhi, then road or rail
The rail option is Telangana Express (12723), which runs daily from Hyderabad Deccan to New Delhi, about 25 h 50 min for 1,677 km. The alternative is the Rajdhani Express 12437 from Secunderabad Junction to Hazrat Nizamuddin: weekly, about 21 h 45 min over 1,663 km. Its running day may have changed, so confirm on IRCTC before planning around it.
Whether you reach Delhi by air or rail, the next stage is the Delhi-Haridwar leg by Shatabdi, Vande Bharat or a UTC bus. For those options, see our Kedarnath package from Delhi guide. Delhi is about 460 km from Sonprayag, a 12-14 hour drive, which is why most travellers break the journey at Haridwar or Rishikesh.
Is there a direct train from Hyderabad to Haridwar?
We did not find a regular direct train between Hyderabad or Secunderabad and Haridwar. Journey planners route the trip via Delhi or Ambala. Seasonal specials sometimes appear, but they are not something to build a plan around; check IRCTC for your dates. In practice, a Kedarnath yatra from Hyderabad by rail always means a change somewhere in the north.
| Route | Service | Approx. travel time | Frequency | Gateway reached | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Air, nonstop | IndiGo Hyderabad-Dehradun | About 2 h 25 min - 2 h 30 min | Some dates only | Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) | Short trips, senior travellers |
| Air, one-stop | IndiGo connections | About 7 h 50 min - 10 h 20 min | Dates without the nonstop | Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) | Fixed dates when the nonstop is not flying |
| Rail via Delhi | Telangana Express 12723, Hyderabad Deccan - New Delhi | About 25 h 50 min | Daily | New Delhi, then Haridwar | Lower budgets, flexible leave |
| Rail via Delhi | Rajdhani Express 12437, Secunderabad Junction - Hazrat Nizamuddin | About 21 h 45 min | Weekly (confirm day on IRCTC) | Hazrat Nizamuddin, then Haridwar | Faster rail if the day fits |
| Direct rail | Hyderabad - Haridwar | - | No regular service found | - | Check IRCTC for seasonal specials |
How many days a Kedarnath trip from Hyderabad takes
The hill section is the same either way; only the first and last legs change. The trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath Temple is about 16-17 km uphill (IRCTC gives 16 km; Wikipedia about 17 km), and ponies and porters are available. Plan one spare day for weather.
Fly-in plan: about 6 days door to door
Flying in on a nonstop date gives the shortest trip: land at Jolly Grant Airport, sleep in Haridwar or Rishikesh, and drive into the hills next day. This mirrors the shape of the TravelTriangle package (one night in Haridwar, three in Sitapur) but without the Delhi start.
Train plan via Delhi: about 8-9 days
By train, add roughly a day each way for Telangana Express (12723 out, 12724 back) and a further day for the Delhi-Haridwar connection. It takes longer but works for rail travellers and for dates when the nonstop is not flying.
| Day | Fly-in plan | Train plan via Delhi | Night halt (fly-in / train) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fly Hyderabad - Dehradun; drive to Haridwar or Rishikesh | Board Telangana Express at Hyderabad Deccan | Haridwar or Rishikesh / on train |
| 2 | Drive into the hills towards Sonprayag | Reach New Delhi; continue to Haridwar | Sitapur or Guptkashi / Haridwar |
| 3 | Temple day: trek from Gaurikund or helicopter | Drive into the hills towards Sonprayag | Sitapur or Guptkashi / Sitapur or Guptkashi |
| 4 | Spare day for weather or a second attempt | Temple day: trek from Gaurikund or helicopter | Sitapur or Guptkashi / Sitapur or Guptkashi |
| 5 | Drive down to Haridwar or Rishikesh | Spare day for weather | Haridwar or Rishikesh / Sitapur or Guptkashi |
| 6 | Fly Dehradun - Hyderabad | Drive down to Haridwar | Home / Haridwar |
| 7 | - | Haridwar to Delhi; board train south | - / on train |
| 8-9 | - | Telangana Express to Hyderabad (about 25 h 50 min) | - / home |
Plans are approximate. A one-stop flight on day 1 can push the hill drive back a day.
What a Kedarnath tour package from Hyderabad includes and excludes
No Hyderabad to Kedarnath tour package listed below actually begins in Hyderabad. "From Hyderabad" in the name means the operator sells to customers in Hyderabad; the itinerary itself starts in Delhi or Haridwar. Prices are as listed on 2 October 2026 and are the operators' figures, not this site's offers.
Quoted prices compared
| Operator | Duration / start point | Quoted price | Included | Excluded |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TravelTriangle | 5D/4N; 1N Haridwar + 3N Sitapur; starts and ends at Delhi airport or railway station | From Rs 18,900 per person, twin sharing (shown discounted from Rs 20,543) | Breakfast and dinner, 2-star hotels, road transfers | Airfare or train fare, helicopter tickets, ponies/dolis, porterage |

Compare inclusions, not headline prices.
Costs you add on top
- Hyderabad to the start point: your flight to Dehradun or Delhi, or train fare. No fixed figure; check the airline or IRCTC for your date.
- Helicopter: the IRCTC round-trip fare for your helipad plus extras, shown in the next section.
- Pony, doli or porter: excluded by both operators above. Fares are set locally, so confirm on the spot.
- Yatra registration: free.
Adding the Kedarnath helicopter to a Hyderabad package
A Kedarnath package from Hyderabad with helicopter usually means the operator handles the road trip and you book the flight to the temple yourself, because the TravelTriangle and Swastik Holiday packages above exclude it (MakeMyTrip's listing could not be read). The fares below are per passenger for a round trip, as displayed on IRCTC HeliYatra on 2 October 2026.
IRCTC fares by helipad (as shown 2 Oct 2026)
| Helipad | Operators | Round-trip fare shown | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guptkashi | Trans Bharat Aviation, Chipsan Aviation | Rs 12,762 | Fuel surcharge (journeys from 1 Oct 2026), convenience fee, PG charges |
| Phata | United Helicharters, Thumby Aviation, Rajas Aerosports and Adventures, Pilgrimage Aviation | Rs 10,164 | Fuel surcharge (journeys from 1 Oct 2026), convenience fee, PG charges |
| Sirsi (Sersi) | Arrow Aircraft, Himalayan Heli | Rs 6,390 | Fuel surcharge (journeys from 1 Oct 2026), convenience fee, PG charges |
Dynamic pricing applies under UCADA policy, so the amount at checkout can differ from the table. Go by the payment-page figure, and pick the helipad that matches your night halt. Sirsi showed the lowest of the three fares on the day we checked.
Booking windows, registration first and group limits
IRCTC HeliYatra (heliyatra.irctc.co.in) is the only website that sells Kedarnath helicopter tickets online. Seats are being released in short windows: bookings for journeys from 1 to 15 October 2026 opened on 22 September. You cannot book without completing Char Dham yatra registration first, because the booking needs your Group ID or Unique Registration Number.
Family groups, note the cap: a maximum of 2 tickets per IRCTC user ID, with up to 6 passengers per ticket, so 12 people per ID. A larger joint family needs a second user ID, and every passenger must already be registered.
Can you still go in October-November 2026?
Expected closing on Bhai Dooj
Kedarnath traditionally closes for winter on Bhai Dooj, which falls on Wednesday 11 November 2026. That date is expected, not confirmed. The Badri-Kedar Temple Committee (BKTC) announces the exact closing date on Vijayadashami; in 2025 it announced on 2 October that the temple would close on 23 October. As of 2 October 2026, the BKTC website showed only that the 2026 yatra is in progress. Our Kedarnath closing date 2026 page explains how the announcement works.
Lead time decides it. The fly-in plan needs about six days; the train plan eight or nine, with the temple day on day four, so leave Hyderabad earlier. Either way, keep the spare day and aim for a temple day a few days before the expected closing. October is cold at 3,583 m; pack proper warm layers.
If you miss 2026: planning for 2027
After closing, the deity is worshipped at Ukhimath through the winter. The temple reopens in April, around Akshaya Tritiya; the 2027 opening date has not been announced yet. If this autumn does not fit, plan for 2027.
Registration and documents for Hyderabad travellers
Yatra registration is mandatory and free. You can do it online on the registration and tourist care portal, through the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app (Android and iOS), or at offline counters in Haridwar, Rishikesh, Vikasnagar and near the shrines, including Sonprayag. You receive a Yatra Registration Letter with a QR code; keep it on your phone and on paper. Helplines: 1364 (toll free) and 0135-3520100.
Register online before leaving Hyderabad; the counters are a backup, and the helicopter booking needs the registration number.
Package or self-planned trip from Hyderabad: which suits you
- Senior travellers or short leave: fly in on a nonstop date, take a road package from Dehradun or Haridwar, and book the helicopter yourself. About six days.
- Families of more than 12: a package simplifies hotels and cars, but plan two IRCTC user IDs for the helicopter.
- Budget travellers with time: Telangana Express to Delhi, then self-plan the hill leg. About eight to nine days.
- Anyone travelling after mid-October 2026: build the plan backwards from the expected 11 November closing, and keep the spare day.
A package covers the road loop; the Hyderabad leg, helicopter and registration stay with you. For the IRCTC step-by-step, use the helicopter booking guide linked above; for planning questions, call or WhatsApp +91 99263 12626. We answer questions but do not sell tickets or packages.
