What to Expect
Night temperatures drop below freezing even in peak summer (May-June). During monsoon, the trail becomes slippery and helicopter services are frequently cancelled. Post-monsoon (Sep-Oct) offers the best visibility with snow-capped peaks clearly visible, but temperatures dip sharply after sunset.
Clothing Guide by Season
- May-June: 3 layers — thermal, fleece, windproof jacket. Sunglasses for snow glare.
- July-Sep: Waterproof everything. Rain poncho, waterproof trekking shoes, quick-dry clothes.
- Oct-Nov: 4+ layers — heavy thermals, down jacket, woolen cap, gloves. Expect sub-zero nights.
