At Kedarnath
- GMVN Tourist Rest House: Government-run, basic rooms. ₹500-₹1,500/night. Book through GMVN website.
- Dharamshalas: Free or donation-based. Basic bedding, shared facilities. First-come basis.
- Tented Camps: Seasonal luxury tents near temple. ₹3,000-₹8,000/night. Includes meals.
- Chopta/Bharat Seva Ashram: Charitable trusts offering free lodging for pilgrims.
Space at Kedarnath is extremely limited. During peak season, many pilgrims sleep on the temple premises or in community halls. If you want a confirmed room, book the GMVN rest house months in advance.
Guptkashi & Sonprayag
Most pilgrims stay in Guptkashi (30 km from Sonprayag) or Sonprayag the night before starting the trek. Options range from budget lodges (₹500-₹1,000) to mid-range hotels (₹1,500-₹3,000) with hot water and meals. Guptkashi has the widest selection and better connectivity.
