Why Registration is Mandatory

Since 2024, the Uttarakhand government has made online registration compulsory for all Char Dham Yatra pilgrims, including Kedarnath. This system manages crowd flow, ensures pilgrim safety during extreme weather, and enables rescue operations during emergencies.

Without a valid registration, you will be turned back at the Sonprayag checkpoint — no exceptions. The registration generates a QR code that is scanned at multiple checkpoints along the route.

Online Registration Process

Registration is done through the official Uttarakhand Tourism portal. Here's the step-by-step process:

1. Visit the portal: Go to the official registration website (link below)
2. Create account: Register with your mobile number and email
3. Select destination: Choose "Kedarnath" as your yatra destination
4. Choose travel date: Select your preferred darshan date
5. Fill pilgrim details: Enter details for each pilgrim — name, age, ID proof, medical info
6. Upload documents: Upload ID proof and medical certificate
7. Pay fees: Complete payment through the portal
8. Download QR code: Save and print your registration QR code

Documents Required

Health Certificate

A medical fitness certificate is mandatory for Kedarnath Yatra, especially for pilgrims above 50 years of age or those with pre-existing health conditions. The certificate must confirm that you are fit for travel at high altitudes (11,755 ft / 3,583 m).

The certificate can be obtained from any registered medical practitioner. It should mention your blood pressure, heart condition, and respiratory fitness. Government hospitals in Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Sonprayag also issue certificates.

Biometric Verification

After online registration, you must complete biometric verification at the Sonprayag checkpoint. This involves fingerprint scanning and photo verification against your registration data. Carry the same ID document you used during registration.
