How to Reach Kedarnath — Complete Route Guide

Kedarnath has no road access — the last motorable point is Sonprayag. From there, it's either a 14 km trek or a helicopter ride. Here's how to get to Sonprayag from anywhere in India.

From Delhi

By Road (460 km, 12-14 hours): Delhi → Haridwar → Rishikesh → Devprayag → Srinagar → Rudraprayag → Guptkashi → Sonprayag. NH58 (now NH7) is the primary route. Overnight buses and shared taxis are available from Kashmere Gate ISBT.

By Train + Road: Train to Haridwar (4-6 hours), then taxi/bus to Sonprayag (8-9 hours). Best trains: Shatabdi Express, Nanda Devi Express, Jan Shatabdi.

By Flight + Road: Fly to Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport (1 hour), then taxi to Sonprayag (8-9 hours).

From Haridwar / Rishikesh

Haridwar to Sonprayag is approximately 230 km (8-9 hours by road). Rishikesh to Sonprayag is 215 km. Regular buses run from both cities. Private taxis cost ₹4,000-₹6,000 one way. Shared jeeps are available from Rishikesh bus stand for ₹600-₹800 per person.

By Air

Nearest Airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (240 km from Sonprayag). Daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore.
