Kedarnath Package from Haridwar: Days & Cost

KH By Kedarnath Helicopter Yatra Editorial· Updated 2026-10-06·8 min read

Key takeaways

A Kedarnath package from Haridwar usually runs 2 nights/3 days to 3 nights/4 days, and operators list it from about Rs 11,500 to Rs 19,000 per person. Night halts are in Guptkashi or Sitapur. The helicopter, ponies, porters and GST are normally extra, so check what each quote leaves out.

This guide compares package structures, operator prices as listed on 6 October 2026, the extras that sit outside the quote, the trek-length confusion, registration and the expected 2026 closing. We do not sell packages or helicopter tickets; every price below belongs to the operator or to IRCTC, and listings change often.

How Kedarnath Packages from Haridwar Are Structured

Haridwar is the rail and road gateway for most pilgrims, and operators build the same basic route around it: a long drive up the Ganga valley through Rishikesh, Devprayag and Rudraprayag to a night halt near Guptkashi or Sitapur, a Kedarnath day, then the drive back. Where they differ is how many nights they give the Kedarnath day itself.

2 nights / 3 days

The shortest listings, such as Chardhamtour's Haridwar/Dehradun plan and Tattvam Tours' 2N/3D page, run Haridwar to the halt on Day 1, Kedarnath and back on Day 2, and Rishikesh and the return on Day 3. Chardhamtour shows Sitapur as the halt; Tattvam shows Guptkashi.

3 nights / 4 days

Bizar Expedition's 3N/4D plan breaks the journey at Guptkashi on Day 1, reaches Kedarnath on Day 2 by a helicopter option or by road to Sonprayag and then the trek, stays overnight at Kedarnath, and returns on Day 3, with the Haridwar drive on Day 4. The extra night buys a slower pace, not a different route.

Longer Do Dham combinations

Sacred Yatra lists longer plans on its Haridwar-start page: 4 nights Kedarnath-Badrinath, 5 nights including Tungnath and 6 nights. These add other shrines, so they are not like-for-like with a Kedarnath-only package.

PlanNight halts (as listed)Kedarnath daySuits
2N/3D (Chardhamtour)Sitapur on both nightsDay 2: Sitapur to Kedarnath and back to SitapurFit travellers on a tight schedule
2N/3D (Tattvam Tours)GuptkashiDay 2: trek and return to GuptkashiFit travellers on a tight schedule
3N/4D (Bizar Expedition)Guptkashi, then Kedarnath overnight, then an overnight after the Day 3 drive backDay 2 up, Day 3 returnFamilies, older pilgrims, anyone wanting a buffer
4-6 nights (Sacred Yatra)Not detailed in the pages we readCombined with Badrinath, and Tungnath on the 5N listingPilgrims doing more than one shrine

A 2N/3D plan fits the whole Kedarnath visit into one day, leaving no slack for weather. That is an inference from the listed day plans, not a statement by the operators.

Quoted Prices Compared (as Listed on 6 October 2026)

These are operator quotes read on 6 October 2026. They are not this site's prices, and they are not like-for-like: hotel category, meal plan, vehicle and the number of sharing guests differ. Treat the table as a map of the market, not a shortlist.

What each one excludes

Transport to Haridwar, the helicopter, animals and porters, and tax sit outside the headline price, while hotels and road transport sit inside. Chardhamtour's page header lists breakfast, lunch and dinner as included, while Bizar lists breakfast and dinner as included and lunch as excluded, so confirm the meal basis in writing. The 11,500 to 19,000 span is the range for a Kedarnath-focused Haridwar package; the Rs 6,803 figure is the outlier and should be re-quoted before you rely on it.

The Real Cost Stack: What the Package Price Leaves Out

The two items that move the total most are the helicopter and the animals or porters on the trek, and neither is in the quote. For the full IRCTC process, read our Kedarnath helicopter booking guide.

Helicopter fares on IRCTC

The only online channel for Kedarnath helicopter tickets is IRCTC HeliYatra. On 6 October 2026 its Check Fare table showed these round-trip fares per passenger: Guptkashi to Kedarnath Rs 12,762, Phata to Kedarnath Rs 10,164 and Sirsi (Sersi) to Kedarnath Rs 6,390. The page notes a fuel surcharge for journeys from 1 October 2026, convenience fee and payment-gateway charges extra, and dynamic pricing set under the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA). It also limits each user ID to 2 tickets of up to 6 passengers.

The same homepage listed Kedarnath bookings only for journeys from 1 to 15 October 2026, opened on 22 September 2026 at 15:00. Later dates were not on offer when we looked, so a plan for a date beyond that window depends on IRCTC releasing more slots. A helicopter figure printed on a package page, such as Rs 7,500 on one operator page, does not match these IRCTC fares and should not be used for budgeting.

Ponies, porters and meals

Operators exclude doli, pony, horse and porter charges. Most do not print rates, but Bizar Expedition's page shows approximate figures of Rs 3,000 for a pony, Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 for a dandi/palki and Rs 2,000 for a kandi, undated. Ask for the current rate at Gaurikund or Sonprayag and add it to your budget. Meals not covered by the package, such as Bizar's lunches, are also yours.

GST and fuel surcharge

Chardhamtour lists GST at 5% as an addition, while Tattvam's page mentions both tax-inclusive pricing and GST extra, so ask for a final invoice figure. The fuel surcharge on IRCTC helicopter tickets has no amount shown on the page.

Trek, Timing and the One-Day Squeeze

If you do not fly, the Kedarnath day starts at Sonprayag, the last motorable point, and the walk begins at Gaurikund. Sources do not agree on how long that walk is.

Trek length differs by source

IRCTC HeliYatra says 16 km from Gaurikund. Tattvam Tours says 14 km one way, although its own Day 2 line mentions 19 km. Bizar Expedition says 17 km in its itinerary (elsewhere on the page it says 18 km) and rates the trek as moderate to difficult at 6 to 9 hours. A sensible reading is about 14 to 18 km, with the exact figure depending on where you start counting. Do not plan a tight day on any single number.

What a realistic Kedarnath day looks like

Because a 2N/3D plan returns to the halt the same day, the Kedarnath Temple visit, the walk up and the walk down all share one daylight window. The 3N/4D structure with an overnight at Kedarnath removes that squeeze, which is why we would not call the cheaper plan the better value without checking your fitness, age group and the weather margin.

Registration and the 2026 Closing Window

Mandatory registration

Char Dham yatra registration is free and mandatory, and IRCTC requires it before you can book a helicopter. The official portal is registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in, which issues a QR registration letter; the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app is the mobile route. Helplines listed are 1364 and 0135-3520100, and counters are listed at Haridwar, Rishikesh, Vikasnagar and Sonprayag. Verification takes place at the dham.

Expected closing around Bhai Dooj

The Badri-Kedar Temple Committee had not announced the 2026 closing date when we checked on 6 October 2026; its homepage said only that Yatra-2026 is in progress. Closing is expected around Bhai Dooj, which falls on 11 November 2026, but that is an expectation, not an announcement, and one operator page states 11 November as the closing date. Our Kedarnath closing date 2026 guide tracks the latest position. If you miss the window, the temple opens again next season, so a package booked for a late date should have a clear refund or rescheduling clause.

Package or Self-Plan from Haridwar?

Verdict table

Jolly Grant Airport is about 35 km from Haridwar, so flying in does not change the shape of the trip, only how you reach the start. If you already have a Haridwar hotel, the real choice is between a bundled road trip and arranging transport and stays yourself. Our Haridwar to Kedarnath helicopter price guide covers the helicopter-first alternative in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

How many days do you need for a Kedarnath package from Haridwar?

Listed plans run from 2 nights/3 days to 3 nights/4 days for Kedarnath alone. Longer listings of 4 to 6 nights add Badrinath and sometimes Tungnath. A 3N/4D plan gives a buffer that a 2N/3D plan does not.

How much does a Kedarnath package from Haridwar cost?

On 6 October 2026 Chardhamtour listed Rs 11,500 per person for 3D/2N and Bizar Expedition listed Rs 19,000 for 3N/4D. A Tattvam Tours page shows Rs 6,803 but refers to 2024 quotations. Prices exclude the helicopter, ponies and GST, and they are not like-for-like.

Does a Kedarnath package from Haridwar include the helicopter?

Normally not. The listings we read exclude helicopter tickets. IRCTC HeliYatra is the only online seller, with round-trip fares of Rs 6,390 from Sirsi (Sersi), Rs 10,164 from Phata and Rs 12,762 from Guptkashi on 6 October 2026, before surcharge and fees.

Is a 2 night 3 day Kedarnath package from Haridwar possible?

Operators list it, with Kedarnath done in one day from the Sitapur or Guptkashi halt. It is an inference from those itineraries that this is a long day with little weather margin, so it suits fit travellers more than older pilgrims.

How far is Kedarnath from Haridwar?

It depends on the route and the road, and sources disagree on some legs. Our Haridwar to Kedarnath helicopter price guide holds the road breakdown, so use that rather than a single figure here.

Is registration needed for a Kedarnath package?

Yes. Char Dham yatra registration is free and mandatory through the Uttarakhand government portal or the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app, and IRCTC requires it before a helicopter booking. Helplines listed are 1364 and 0135-3520100.
